Installed a linkable Table of Contents for WiredPages.
Here is an illustration.
WiredPages Site TOC
This new tool should make it a lot easier to find features on the site. A button to access the TOC is found on all pages. Let me know if you have problems -- contact.

Testing the Dictionary online. This is not yet installed on WiredPages-- I want to hold off until I workout all of the problems.
Though the interface attempts to clear local cache [word sound {wav} files], I have found that the sound performance of the interface is greatly enhanced, if users also clear their browser cache, especially if media files are frequently downloaded in any given session.
Still beta testing-- so let me know if you find errors-- how? Call 443.393.6650 and leave a message or see my contact page. The interface is a Java Servlet and using an Applet for sound.
Because of limitations with older Windows and Mac OS platforms-- or maybe because I did not find the correct work around-- I have disabled sound on these platforms [again: older Windows and Macs.] when the sound image is clicked- the interface opens a new window and provides the word audio file in that manner. This only for Mac PPC and Windows operating platforms starting with Windows2000 and older.

I began working on a dictionary interface for the WiredPages Reference page- sometime ago.
The following illustrates what the tool will look like.
Illustration Only
A couple of months ago-- I synced the audio portion of the task-- which was rather complicated. After I finished, I put off further work- because quite frankly-- the audio was complicated-- and for some reason I did not want the class files made available online for closer inspection.
The interface is Java Servlet and an Applet for sound.
Here is another illustration:

I have a bit more testing to do [ensure I am getting what I need from the xml file insofar as definitions]-- but for reasons already provided, just in no real hurry to install. There is also a small timing problem with words like interesting where the sound is concerned. Not enough of a problem to keep from installing but an issue I want to look into further.

As many of you know I collect plugins and templates for WordPress. Every once in awhile I like showing the latest additions to my collection.
I tend to like less fussy blog templates and this GridFocus template, which also has a 3 column option, is something I like a lot.
GridFocus ScreenShot
Another I recently downloaded-- but have noticed before, this Connections template.
WordPress Connections ScreenShot
I have been working on a new header graphic for this theme-- to make it more unique-- because a lot of folks like this theme. If you look at its details, you will find it has some very nice features.
Here is another shades of gray theme [Tweaker2]:
WordPress Tweaker ScreenShot
I also added Property-Press to my WordPress plugins collection. Property-Press highlights:
Turn your Wordpress installation into a feature-rich Real Estate website. This plugin creates a custom post type for property listings with added fields for price, address, city, bedrooms, bathrooms, floor space, and much more. It also offers automatic geocoding on save, based upon the address. Using the coordinates,
I can customize any look or add any features/plugins to suit your needs...

I have been working on a new interface. It retrieves federal and state representatives provided a United States address. I have provided the illustration.
I am still beta testing and adding new features-- however will probably do nothing further until I hear from the source provider. I want to install the tool on the WiredPages Government page.
This is a Java Servlet that utilizes two feed resources. Not complicated [like the Horoscopes Interface]. This will be a work in progress because of the interesting data source. I will provide more details later. This is a project I hope I can get many interested in-- [the data source providers].
Sunlight Labs is for the most part powering this new interface [using a geo service to convert addresses to lat/long]. SunLight Labs is still working to gather a robust set of data as related to state governments-- so if your state representatives are not available, be patient. That said-- if you would like to see if you can help to get the data they need -- see this link. Data.gov also a good link for state related information.

Fixed several bugs associated with the Zip Code interface maintained on the WiredPages Business & Markets page.
.In case you have noticed, I also made several cosmetic changes to the Zip Code interface. The BMR Calculator on the Health & Medicine page-- also underwent cosmetic revisions to correct a problem with the Mac IE browser.
I am still beta testing the new Daily Horoscopes interface on the Arts & Entertainment page. The interface is not updating the database correctly each morning, unless I reinstall the interface. It appears to be some sort of initialization problem. I think I have the fix now-- however will not be sure until tomorrow- when a new daily horoscopes feed will be made available. [update: 4/02/11-- Deleted all records-- forcing it to get the feed for today. Then ran the interface already installed... works great.]
May have to eat a little crow-- if I incorrectly blamed outside interference with the Daily Horoscope interface. That said- my installed interfaces on occasion [over the many years] have been tampered with, however to remain credible I take blame when the blame is mine... I will advise tomorrow morning-- how much crow...
By the way-- found one or two interesting "bugs" with the Zip Code Interface.. Jury Duty, 2004-- my master copies were in that safe? Yes, I should have found these problems sooner. No this blog does not want to be my personal blog. Simply want to ensure- everyone is on the same page... do not tamper with my interfaces, ads, nor site pages.
